David Ungi is set to stand trial next year after being charged with the murder of Vinny Waddington.
The 31-year-old was this week charged in connection with murdering the teenager, seven years after he was shot dead following a crash. The 18-year-old was the pillion passenger on a motorbike which was struck by an Audi car on Banks Lane in Garston shortly after 8.45pm on July 14 2015.
One of three men inside the vehicle fired a shotgun out of the passenger side window, striking Mr Waddington in the chest. He was able to run a short distance before collapsing.

The rider of the bike, then 21-year-old Francis Humphries, was wounded by the same blast but survived. Two men, Luke Kendrick and Ryan Bate, have already been convicted of Vinny's murder and were jailed for life in 2016.
Ungi appeared before Liverpool Crown Court on Wednesday, via video link to HMP Manchester. Giving his name as David Riccio and wearing a grey t-shirt and a yellow sash, he was not asked to enter a plea to the counts of murder, attempting to inflict grievous bodily harm and conspiracy to supply heroin during the brief hearing.
Judge David Aubrey KC set a trial date for April 18 2023, with the case set to last around three weeks. Ungi was remanded into custody ahead of a plea hearing on December 7.
