SCOTTISH actor David Tennant has been cast in a new Netflix adaptation of a bestselling novel.
In a post on Twitter/X, Netflix announced the Doctor Who star has joined the cast of The Thursday Murder Club.
Released in 2020, the book, written by Richard Osman, follows a group of pensioners who set about solving the murder of a property developer.
It has not yet been announced who Tennant will play, although a number of other additions to the cast were announced.
Netflix said: “David Tennant, Jonathan Pryce, Naomi Ackie, Daniel Mays and Henry Lloyd-Hughes will star in the film adaptation of Richard Osman’s bestselling novel, The Thursday Murder Club.
“They join the previously announced Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, Ben Kingsley and Celia Imrie.”
Netflix first revealed it was attached to the project in April although it remains unclear when the film will be released.
However, Osman has said that filming will take place “this summer from the end of June to September,” meaning a 2025 release date is likely.
