David Tennant has been spotted filming his brand new Disney+ series alongside Danny Dyer.
The Doctor Who star, 51, and the former EastEnders actor, 45, are teaming up for the on-screen adaptation of the second book in author Jilly Cooper's Rutshire Chronicles. The series will bring a “2020s lens to the 1980s” as the story follows the affluent elite in 1980s Britain.
Tennant is reportedly playing TV chief Tony Baddingham in the drama, while Dyer takes on the role of Freddie Jones in the eight-part project. The pair were spotted on set this week in Gloucestershire, with the soap-star seen sporting a moustache and much longer hair.
The Broadchurch actor was snapped wearing a suit with a black bowtie, as he was wrapped up in a long puffer coat on set of the series. Filming is said to have taken place at a 16th century country house in Gloucestershire, reports the Mirror.
A synopsis issued at the time read: "Rivals dives headfirst into the cutthroat world of independent television in 1986, where the shoulder pads are big and ambitions even bigger."
It teased that the plot of the show will centre on a long-standing rivalry between two powerful men in the form of Tony - who's played by David - and Rupert Campbell-Black.
Announcing the show, Disney+ said: “Rivals is a joyously mischievous rollercoaster ride, steamy in its love stories and packed with larger-than-life characters. Yet beneath the spectacle and fun, the series brings a 2020s lens to the 1980s, offering a raw exploration of a complicated moment in British history when class, race, sex, wealth and sexual liberation meant that, for the very privileged few, there were no limits to what they could achieve.”
