David Seaman admits his Leeds United nerves are finally easing after recent upturn in form

David Seaman has claimed that his nerves at Leeds United‘s potential relegation have eased in the last couple of weeks following the club’s upturn in form. His thoughts will be echoed by the majority of Whites supporters although, no one will be under any illusions that the job is done.

On the back of a run of four games where Jesse Marsch’s side have been able to pick up 10 points from a possible 12, there is now valuable breathing space between them and the bottom three. Prior to that run, there was serious worry within the fanbase as Leeds had started to slip down the table at an alarming speed.

Seaman admitted, when speaking to Paul Robinson - on his own podcast ‘ Seaman Says’ - his relief at the current run of form. He said: “All the way through this season, I’ve been really nervous and I admitted earlier that I’m feeling a little bit better now.

“We’re not fully safe but we’re almost there. Hopefully there are three worse teams.”

Fellow former Leeds goalkeeper Robinson claimed that he believes there are three teams with less quality than the Whites in the Premier League. Two of those seem resigned to the fact that they will be playing in the Championship next term as both Norwich and Watford seem too far back to mount a genuine challenge.

The other two in contention for the drop are Everton and Burnley who sit four and eight points behind the Whites respectively, both with a game-in-hand. Leeds have to wait until Monday night, at Crystal Palace, to land another decisive blow in the relegation battle where a win would put them in a brilliant position to ensure that they are playing top-flight football for a third consecutive season in August.

Although, the Whites could go into that match under increased pressure should Burnley and Everton pick up positive results on Sunday. The Clarets are much more likely to have done that as they face Wolves at Turf Moor whereas Frank Lampard’s side face the much tougher task of the Merseyside derby at Anfield.
