David Pecker, the former chairman of American Media Inc., has resumed his testimony in court regarding his involvement in various 'catch-and-kill' schemes orchestrated on behalf of Donald Trump. These schemes included brokering deals with individuals such as Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal to keep their allegations of affairs with Trump confidential.
In one instance, court documents reveal that an agent for Stormy Daniels contacted AMI in October 2016, expressing willingness to make her allegations public. Pecker then reportedly reached out to Michael Cohen, Trump's former lawyer, who negotiated a deal as outlined in Cohen's plea agreement.
Separately, AMI agreed to pay Karen McDougal $150,000 months before the 2016 election to maintain her silence about an alleged affair with Trump. While this payment is not directly linked to charges against Trump, prosecutors intend to use it to demonstrate a pattern of such transactions.
Pecker has been granted immunity in exchange for his testimony, and AMI has signed a non-prosecution agreement with prosecutors. These developments shed light on the intricate relationships and agreements that took place behind the scenes during the 2016 presidential campaign.
