David Moyes 'refuses' West Ham request before Leeds United clash as Everton watch on

West Ham manager David Moyes reportedly turned down a request from his squad to mark their European heroics with a night out in the Netherlands.

The former Everton manager guided West Ham into the Europa Conference League showpiece on Thursday night when his men defeated AZ Alkmaar over two legs. Despite wild and boozy scenes filtering on to social media from the dressing room, though, the celebrations did not continue.

Instead, with only 72 hours between that semi-final showdown and their impending Premier League match against Everton's relegation rivals Leeds United at the London Stadium on Sunday lunchtime (1.30pm), it was straight back to the UK for Moyes and his final-bound players.

After getting down to business against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday afternoon (3pm), his former club Everton will be keeping a close eye on what happens when the Hammers and Leeds collide. As it stands, the Blues are only one point better off than Leeds who occupy 18th position.

During his pre-match press conference, ex-Everton and current Leeds manager Sam Allardyce suggested the European adventure West Ham have been on might offer his side a boost in the relegation fight. However, as per reports from The Athletic, Moyes poured cold water on any prospect of a West Ham after-party.

With two games remaining, the Blues - who were managed by Allardyce for six months during the 2017/2018 campaign and Moyes for more than 11 years - are narrowly above the bottom three on 32 points. Leeds have totted-up 31 points in 18th position as Leicester City (30 points) and Nottingham Forest (34 points) have to be factored in either side.
