West Ham United boss David Moyes has confirmed that Burnley winger Maxwel Cornet is at the club and is closing in on a £17.5million move to the London Stadium.
Cornet had a medical in London last night ahead of a switch to east London that would make him the Hammers’ fifth signing of the summer transfer window and take their spending to around £100m for the summer.
However, speaking ahead of the Hammers’ season opener against Manchester City on Sunday afternoon, Moyes has insisted that there is still plenty of work for the club to do in the market before the window shuts on September 1.

Moyes is hoping to get the Cornet done deal imminently, although it would be too late for him to feature in the season opener against Pep Guardiola’s side, but believes that the club are still a number of players short of where they would like to be.
“He’s in the building now so hopefully, we can get that concluded,” said Moyes. “I couldn’t tell you exactly until everything is done but he’s here at the moment.
“All I would say is no, we need to do an awful lot more business. We lost four players - three players and a goalkeeper - at the end of the season. We were a couple of players short in January, we didn’t bring any players in in January, so we have to fill these voids and hopefully, we can do so.
“We want to bring in quality players, we don’t want to just fill it for the sake of filling it, so we are trying to do what we can.
“We’ve got lots of areas to address and the question on Maxwel is probably better suited once we get it all done, once we get it completed, then it will be a lot easier to speak about.”
