David Moyes provides Kurt Zouma injury update ahead of West Ham’s AZ Alkmaar clash

West Ham United manager David Moyes has said that Thursday night’s Europa Conference League semi-final first leg against AZ Alkmaar is likely to come too soon for centre-back Kurt Zouma to feature in.

Having suffered an ankle injury in last month’s defeat to Crystal Palace in the Premier League, the French defender has missed the Hammers ’ last two matches against Manchester City and Manchester United.

However, having initially been set to be missing for “a few weeks,” Zouma returned to training on Tuesday and also trained with the squad on Wednesday ahead of their semi-final first leg against the Dutch side.

Moyes has confirmed that Zouma has returned to training, but says the game is likely to be too soon for him to feature in.

“Kurt [Zouma] has had a day back. He has just started back and we are just seeing how his ankle is,” as published by West Ham’s club website .

“There is a good chance that tomorrow is too soon but we will see how he is.”

Right-back Vladimir Coufal and striker Gianluca Scamacca are both still set to miss out with respective hamstring and knee injuries.
