David Moyes provides Kurt Zouma and Lukasz Fabianski injury update ahead of Watford clash

David Moyes has confirmed that Kurt Zouma will be fit to start against Watford after an injury scare during the FA Cup clash with Kidderminster Harriers.

Zouma went down in the second period of extra time at Aggborough Stadium holding his leg and was in great pain as he received treatment after twisting his right knee as he fell to the ground.

The defender returned to action after three minutes of attention from the physio and did not look comfortable for the remainder of the match.

Speaking after the late win Moyes was cautiously optimistic about Zouma's fitness and added he was not expected to play the entire match.

"I think he's okay. I was a bit worried," Moyes said. "Obviously, the plan was not to play him as long but we made changes to try and get ourselves in the cup and stay in the cup so unfortunately, I was not able to bring him off earlier."

The Hammers manager was more positive on Zouma's chances of featuring against Watford when speaking to the press on Monday afternoon.

"He's okay," Moyes said. "He twisted his knee a little bit, I think he stood on the ball and went over so we were a bit worried about him but he's responded okay over the last few days and we expect him to be okay."

Another man expected to start on Tuesday evening is the returning Lukasz Fabianski. The goalkeeper missed out in the last Premier League game against Manchester United and Alphonse Areola was preferred in goal for the FA Cup tie.

However, Moyes confirmed that Fabianski remains his No.1 and will come back into the team for the Premier League clash.

"Lukasz has been the number one, Alphonse has played really well for us in the main," Moyes added. "He's got a great record, not conceded too many goals so we're really pleased with Alphonse but Lukasz is still number one."
