David Moyes makes Jarrod Bowen England World Cup squad admission ahead of West Ham vs Everton

David Moyes has said Jarrod Bowen is on the outside looking in of the England Squad, just weeks before the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

The West Ham United winger has won four caps for the Three Lions and was called up to the recent squad but failed to make an appearance in either match.

Gareth Southgate was expected to publicly announce a 55-man squad on Friday but it appears that the England boss has declined to inform the players who made the list, according to the Mirror.

Bowen is one of the players who could make the initial squad and his club boss Moyes has said that the 25-year-old is giving Southgate something to think about over the next few weeks.

"I think Jarrod is trying really hard to give Gareth a big decision to make and I think he is pushing. His form has got better and he has been really important to us," Moyes said.

"If you said recently to me about goals, ‘who would have been more likely to score for us at the moment?’ it would have been Jarrod Bowen. I don’t pick the England team and I am glad I don’t because, it’s such a difficult choice with the selection of players.

"Jarrod wants to score, he has that in him at the moment and he’s got that feeling of ‘I want to score’. We are playing him a bit more central at different time as well, hopefully get him closer to goals. But, he’s stepped up and scored a couple goals when sometimes you least expect it.

"But sometimes when you are the manager, you need someone who you can play and bring off the bench with that possibility. I think Jarrod has done well in the last few weeks, I really do and I know the penalty miss (against Liverpool) draws attention to him but, he’s doing an awful lot of good things Jarrod."

Bowen has found some form for the Hammers recently, scoring twice in his last four games. But the former Hull City player did miss a penalty at Anfield in a 1-0 loss to Liverpool.
