David Moyes retains the support of the West Ham United board despite their wretched run continuing with Wednesday evening’s woeful defeat to Newcastle.
The Hammers were on the wrong end of a 5-1 thumping at the London Stadium as Eddie How e’s men ran riot. Defeat extended West Ham ’s disappointing season and they now sit just outside of the relegation zone on goal difference.
The side’s poor domestic form this season has seen supporters call for Moyes’ exit throughout the campaign - claims that got even louder in the aftermath of the Newcastle defeat. Despite that, it appears that the Scot is set to stay in his position for the time being.
There are currently no plans for a managerial change at the London Stadium and Moyes will oversee this weekend’s clash with Fulham as normal. Speaking after full-time against Newcastle, the former Man Utd boss confirmed he still had the support of the club hierarchy and reiterated his commitment to the Hammers.
Speaking with Sky Sports, Moyes said: “No doubt [the board] are behind me, but if you lose badly like that as a manager you're always in danger.”
Speaking later in his post-match press conference, he added: “I'm a big boy, I've left jobs at other times in the past and if this one happens, well then I would have to go with that if that's the case.

"I really like my job here. I really like the people I work for. I've enjoyed my time greatly and I'm hoping there are a couple of big days ahead of us in the not-too-distant future.”
Hammers’ captain Declan Rice also gave his view on Moyes’ position after the defeat to Newcastle and came out in support of his manager.
“I love working with the manager,” the England midfielder told. “How he is as a person, as a man, he's great for us.
“Fans voice their opinion but it's football. It's hard because they want to see performances but there has been an inconsistent lack of that this season.
“We need to keep the positivity. I'm trying to keep the boys in there. I've been at West Ham before where you can feel negativity, with this group of boys that's not happening. I think a run and we can get ourselves out of it.”
Moyes has been at the reins at the London Stadium since his return in 2019. Since then, he has led the Hammers to sixth and seventh in the Premier League, as well as the semi-finals of the Europa League last season.
He has just over a year remaining on his contract with West Ham. Should the club change their mind and make a change then Moyes would join Brendan Rodgers and Graham Potter in becoming Premier League bosses to lose their jobs over the past week.
