West Ham have made an official bid for Lyon playmaker Lucas Paqueta, manager David Moyes confirmed on Wednesday afternoon.
Just a day after the Hammers confirmed the signing of Chelsea left back Emerson Palmieri, the club are eyeing another transfer with The Athletic reporting early on Wednesday that a bid of €40million has been made.
Speaking prior to his club's UEFA Europa Conference League second leg against Viborg FF, the Scot told media that a bid has been made for the Brazilian star.

"I'll not talk about him but I can tell you that we have bid for him," Moyes said. "Twenty-three, 30 Brazil caps, can play 10, eight, plays as a false nine for Brazil quite often. I think his pedigree is really good. Your pedigree doesn't always guarantee that it works but you hope that it helps towards possibly getting better."
Paqueta has long been linked with a move to Newcastle United where his former Lyon team-mate Bruno Guimaraes is flying, while Arsenal have also shown interest in the Brazil international.
Midfield is an area the Hammers are keen to improve, with Moyes once again confirming that he had tried to sign Kalvin Phillips from Leeds United in January and that another improved offer has been made for Hans Vanaken.
"We tried to sign Kalvin Phillips in January," he added. "We couldn't get it over the line in January, we would have had Kalvin Phillips in January. I can't talk about it [the bid for Vanaken]. But I can only tell you that we've made a bid and we have made an improved bid as well for him."
Moyes will be present when West Ham look to build on their 3-1 first leg win over Viborg in Denmark on Thursday night.
