David Martindale is under no illusion of the task that lies ahead of Livingston when they travel to face Hearts on Saturday. That is because he reckons Robbie Neilson's side are capable of pushing Celtic and Rangers at the top of the Scottish Premiership table.
The West Lothian club have racked up two wins on the bounce and lie one place above Hearts in the league standings with the Tynecastle outfit just picking up form after trying to balance European football with domestic action. Neilson's men have also been without a host of key players with Lawrence Shankland, Craig Halkett and Beni Baningime on the treatment table.
But Lions boss Martindale believes you can't read into form too much when going head to head with a big club like the Jambos. He said: "Hearts, for me, with their full squad back could be pushing for second, fighting for third with their full squad back and a wee bit of luck with injuries, obviously. For me they're a very, very good football team and they're at home, we're away from home.
"So you'd expect Hearts to go into this one as favourites albeit the league table suggests we're above Hearts. I don't think you can read too much into that when you're going to a big club like Hearts."
