David Leitch, director of the upcoming Kung Fu reboot movie, has hinted at the potential for a new franchise based on the popular martial arts series. The original Kung Fu franchise began in the 1970s with a TV show starring David Carradine, followed by a made-for-TV movie and subsequent series. The most recent iteration featured a Chinese-American female lead and ran for three successful seasons before being canceled.
Leitch expressed his enthusiasm for the project during a recent interview, citing his lifelong passion for kung fu and martial arts. He praised Donnie Yen, who has been cast in the lead role, and hinted at the possibility of the movie launching a new international franchise. Leitch also mentioned the potential for utilizing IMAX cameras to capture the epic landscapes and action sequences inherent in the Kung Fu universe.
