David Healy insists player welfare will always come first at Linfield

David Healy insists player welfare will always come first at Linfield after providing injury updates on Cameron Palmer and Kyle McClean.

Palmer missed Tuesday night's win over Larne after suffering a head injury in last Friday's victory against Ballymena United.

McClean had to be substituted against Larne after he also sustained up a blow to his head and was unable to continue.

Healy hopes to have Palmer available for Saturday's Premiership clash with Crusaders providing he comes through concussion protocols, but says McClean's participation remains in doubt.

"Kyle's substitution was enforced because he took a nasty head knock which, with the protocols and guidelines now, you can't take any chances," Healy said.

"Kyle was honest enough to say he was struggling after receiving some treatment. So he will be assessed now.

"It is a little bit like Cammy who missed the game against Larne because he got a head injury against Ballymena United.

"And again we are a club that takes no chances with any signs of injuries.

"Cammy missed today but should be available for Saturday. Kyle, if it's the same as what Cammy had or worse, he will certainly miss Saturday."

Another injury concern for Healy is defender Daniel Finlayson who limped off against Larne on Tuesday.

Healy added: "Daniel was struggling at half-time. Again, the form he has been in, he has been very good for us this year.

"You always want to give him 10-15 minutes of the second half, but then you run the risk. There were a couple of balls he was struggling to hit, he didn't have the power in his leg.

"So that was enforced."
