David Datro Fofana breaks silence after Chelsea transfer as Todd Boehly acts quickly

David Datro Fofana has taken to social media following the announcement of his move from Molde to Chelsea.

The 20-year-old forward is set to join the Blues on January 1 and will become Graham Potter's first addition during the upcoming transfer window. The Ivorian has netted 19 times in 27 appearances for the Norweigan outfit so far this term.

Todd Boehly plans to back Potter in the transfer market and the early deal for Fofana boosts Chelsea heading into a busy period following their return to action after the World Cup.

Taking to social media earlier after the deal was announced on Wednesday, the youngster wrote (when translated from French): ''Thank you all for your support see you soon Chelsea''. Chelsea will be boosted by the striker's impending arrival, with the Blues taking on Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on New Year's Day.

Whether the 20-year-old is involved remains to be seen, but one player who Potter will be without is full-back Reece James, who has suffered a fresh injury set back, following the side's 2-0 victory over Bournemouth yesterday evening.

The 23-year-old England international was forced to be withdrawn after 52 minutes at Stamford Bridge, after only just returned from another knee injury that had seen the defender miss England's 2022 World Cup campaign in Qatar.
