Former Formula 1 driver David Coulthard has argued that the FIA must speed up its decision-making processes when neutralising F1 races, stating there is clear "room for improvement" following the Spanish Grand Prix.
McLaren's Lando Norris lost a likely victory at the inaugural Spanish Grand Prix at the Madring circuit after Aston Martin's Lance Stroll stopped on track with a brake failure. When the virtual safety car was deployed, race leader Norris had already passed the pit entry line, allowing Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli to pit cheaply and go on to claim his eighth victory of the 2026 season.
