David Clifford graduates with Masters from UL with future career decided

Kerry star David Clifford posed for photos as he graduated from University of Limerick.

The star forward has decided on his future career and will become a PE teacher after receiving his Masters in PE Teaching on Tuesday.

Clifford has had a stellar year, guiding Kerry to an All-Ireland title and the Fossa man is favourite for the Footballer of the Year award.

And the cherry on the top of the cake will be receiving his Masters with the 23-year-old posing for photos.

Some 3,300 new graduates were conferred in UL over the past five days and Clifford start for the college in a Sigerson Cup final run and earned the Higher Education Rising Star Footballer of the Year Award in the process.

Clifford was a Silver Scholarship recipient and has been in the UL Sports Scholarships Academy for the past two years.

Speaking ahead of his graduation on Tuesday, he said: “I couldn’t recommend it (the course) enough in terms of the time we were in college and the work placements that we had.

"The lecturers and the sports department were very accommodating and friendly, especially in helping me to balance my studies and our Sigerson Cup Final run. Coming up to Limerick was a bit daunting at first, but the sports facilities (at UL) alone are unbelievable.”
