David Beckham’s good friend Dave Gardner appeared to take aim at Brooklyn with his birthday tribute to Cruz.
The Beckhams celebrated Cruz’s milestone 21st birthday together last week and shared social media tributes to the budding singer but Brooklyn remained silent.
Gardner appeared to allude to which side of the Beckham feud he stands on by sharing a photo with Cruz and Marc Anthony on Instagram.
Singer Anthony was infamously at the heart of Brooklyn and his wife Nicola Peltz’s wedding drama, having allegedly called Victoria to have the first dance with Brooklyn instead of Peltz.
Gardner captioned the photo: “Have a great day mate. Love ya Cruzie.”
The Beckham feud appeared to amp up at Brooklyn and Peltz’s 2022 wedding in Florida.
Anthony, who has known the family since meeting David in 2005, performed at the wedding as a gift to the Beckhams.
He reportedly referred to Victoria as “the most beautiful woman in the room” and urged her to dance with Brooklyn instead of his new wife, who“fled the room in tears”.
Brooklyn said in a recent bombshell seven-page online statement that Victoria “hijacked” their first dance and claimed he’d never felt more “humiliated” than when she “danced inappropriately on him”.
He also claimed his parents had been “trying to ruin” his relationship with his wife and had been controlling him “for most of my life”.
Four-time Grammy winner Anthony broke his silence on the wedding claims earlier this month, saying they were “hardly the truth”.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, he described the situation as “extremely unfortunate”, but disputed the narrative that has circulated publicly.
“I have nothing to say about what’s happening with the family. They’re a wonderful, wonderful family,” he said.
“I’ve known them since before the kids were born. I’m godfather to Cruz. I’m really close to the family.”
He continued: “But I have nothing to say about what happened there. It’s extremely unfortunate how it’s playing out — but [how it’s playing out] is hardly the truth.”
Before Anthony addressed the claims, Brooklyn and Nicola’s wedding DJ, Fat Tony, publicly attributed blame to the singer, alleging that Anthony had instructed Brooklyn to “place your hands on your mother’s hips” during the dance.
Anthony has long been part of the Beckhams’ inner circle, alongside friends including Gordon and Tana Ramsay, Eva Longoria and Elton John.
He and the couple are said to have bonded over their shared love of music, regularly supporting one another at major events.
David famously surprised Anthony during his Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony in 2023, while the former footballer is also godfather to the singer’s son, Marquitos.
