David and Victoria Beckham have made a huge donation to support children affected by the devastating conflict in Ukraine.

The Mancheseter United legend took to Instagram to tell his 71 million followers that the Beckhams were kick-starting an emergency UNICEF appeal after the country was invaded by Russia two weeks ago.

David, the president and co-owner of Inter Miami, has launched the appeal through his 7 Fund, a partnership between UNICEF and the footballing icon to help the world's most vulnerable children reach their full potential.

And he confirmed that he and former Spice Girl turned fashion designer Victoria have made a donation.

He didn't reveal how much the couple had pledged, but a source told the Mirror that the generous donation amounts to seven figures.

In a powerful video asking followers to make a donation he said UNICEF have people 'on the frontlines as refugees pour over borders.'

"Like you I have watched the situation in Ukraine unfold with horror and disbelief," he said into the camera.

"Mothers forced to flee with their children, families torn apart, children pulled from their beds to become refugees overnight.

"With my family safe around me I felt the helplessness we all share when faced with scees of such despair.

"As a long time Global Goodwill Ambassador I know how experienced UNICEF is at deploying aid in conflict situations.

"They have people on the frontlines as refugees pour over borders to be given shelter in neighbouring countries."

He continued: "That's why this International Women's Day I'm setting up an emergency appeal through my 7 Fund for UNICEF to help provide immediate aid.
