Dave Grohl's tearful tribute to late Foo Fighters bandmate Taylor Hawkins in special show

Dave Grohl teared up as he paid tribute to his late pal and Foo Fighters' drummer Taylor Hawkins.

The star was on stage at Wembley Stadium for the Taylor Hawkins tribute concert on Saturday.

Taylor was found dead in a hotel room aged 50 in Bogota, Colombia in March, several hours before he and his band were due to perform.

No cause of death was announced, although a preliminary toxicology report showed traces of 10 substances in his body, including opioids and marijuana.

Before introducing his daughter, Violet Grohl, and musician Mark Ronson, David said to the crowd: "When we first started talking about putting something together for Taylor, we sat down and we said even if it's his closest friends, that's like 100 f***ing musicians.

"Because Taylor loved to jam and record with anybody and everybody. He loved to play music every day. And there aren't too many people that he's never jammed with.

"So this collection of friends and family and musicians, this is all brought together by him and we're all connected here today by that one guy.

"Bringing musicians that have never met, musicians that have never played together, all in one place, at one time, with all of you beautiful people to make f***ing noise for Taylor Hawkins."

As he spoke, he had to take a moment to himself as he teared up reminiscing about his friend.

Dave brought up endless music legends onto the stage as the world came together to pay tribute to the drummer.

Liam Gallagher opened the show with the Oasis classic Rock and Roll Star.

Other performers included Queen, Nile Rodgers, Josh Homme, AC/DC's Brian Johnson, Lars Ulrich and more.

At the beginning of the show, Dave told the crowd: "For those of you who knew Taylor personally you'll know that no-one else could make you smile or laugh or dance or sing like he could.

"And for those of you that admired him from afar, I'm sure you've all felt the same thing.

"So sing and dance and laugh and cry and scream and make some noise so he can hear us right now."

The concert is supposed to close with Foo Fighters' first performance since their close friend was found dead.
