Davante Adams questions Jakobi Meyers’ usage in New England

Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams is still scratching his head when it comes to the New England Patriots’ usage of Jakobi Meyers.

Meyers played for the Patriots from 2019-2022. He was able to build up his resume along the way, recording a career-high 866 receiving yards in 2021. He finished 2022 with 67 catches for 804 yards and a career-high six touchdowns.

New England was able to make Meyers into an important part of the offense, despite him going undrafted out of North Carolina State in 2019. He excelled as a possession receiver and was able to make things happen after the catch. He served as a key target for quarterback Mac Jones when Jones was just beginning his journey in the NFL.

Adams is excited to work with Meyers and questioned New England’s usage of the wide receiver, as transcribed by the Las Vegas Sun’s Case Keefer.

“I didn’t see him featured as much as maybe he should have been based on what I saw when [the Patriots] came here and we practiced against them [last summer], and so far what I’ve seen from him now,” said Adams. “He’s a pro. He’s got a lot of tools on the field, and the way he thinks about the game as a relatively young player is impressive to me, so I’m excited to work alongside him.”

Meyers should be a solid addition to an offseason overhaul that was headlined by the addition of quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. Meyers’ role will be a fascinating one, as he looks to build on the success he had in New England.
