A Bristol woman’s world has been turned upside down after receiving heartbreaking news her dad’s cancer had spread to multiple organs. Sophie Wells from Kingswood was devastated to learn her dad’s [Mike Wells] cancer had spread - 23 years after his prostate cancer was removed.
A recent pet and MRI scan showed cancer had entered his liver and possibly his lungs and now he is in need of immediate medical treatment. Miss Wells said her father’s home has deteriorated over the years and is in no fit state for his overall well-being.
“It’s heartbreaking. He goes to work every day to earn a small wage and regardless of his health, he continues to have a smile on his face, ” she added.

The 32-year-old now desperately wants to create a healthy living space for the 68-year-old, who spends the majority of his time working at his computer shop in Wesbury-On-Trym. He also cares for his adult son with additional needs, leaving him little time to tend to his home.
Miss Wells said she is aware of the energy bill crisis and the number of households struggling to heat their houses but little did she know that the effects were much closer to home. She told Bristol Live that her ‘heart broke’ when she saw her father using a ‘tiny electric heater’ to warm his home.
She said it's hard to see her father trying to make ends meet while trying to pay off his mortgage. Now Miss Wells has launched a fundraising page with the hope of raising £1,000 to fix up her father’s home.
She said: “My dad is my hero, I love him unmeasurable amounts and anyone that knows him will understand why I'm doing this for him. My Dad never makes a fuss, never asks for a thing (only my Netflix password) and is just grateful for whatever he has. I know this will make him so happy and will give him the strength to fight this horrible disease”.
Miss Wells hopes the community can come together whether it's through donations, helping with the decoration or simply sharing her father’s story. Click here for Miss Well's Gofundme page.
