New Zealand all-rounder Daryl Mitchell struck a big six off Jack Leach in the second Test against England at Trent Bridge that inadvertently landed in an unsuspecting fan's beer.
During the 56th over of the Test, Mitchell advanced down the pitch and struck Leach straight back over his head into the stands for six. And unfortunately for one supporter, the ball happened to land straight in their beer.
When the moment was spotted on replays, laughter could be heard from the Sky Sports commentary box. Nasser Hussain joked: "What does the local beer do to Duke's ball do we know?"
Meanwhile, Michael Atherton suggested the fan would not be happy given how expensive pints are at sporting venues. England seamer Matthew Potts was fielding on the boundary and could be seen gesturing to his teammates in a bid to explain exactly what happened, leaving both Hussain and Atherton in stitches.
Meanwhile, former England spinner Phil Tufnell joked on commentary for BBC Test Match Special: "That's rude! Come on Jack, keep him quiet. This is costing people a fortune in beer in the stands!" England supporter group the Barmy Army later revealed that New Zealand had provided the fan with a replacement pint.
Mitchell struck a brilliant hundred in the previous Test at Lord's, scoring 108 in the second innings. It was just his second Test century and looked to have put New Zealand in the driving seat to go 1-0 up in the series.
However, a stunning hundred from Joe Root saw England come out on top, ultimately winning the match by five wickets. Despite the result, Mitchell says his century is something he will "savour forever".
In an interview with the Telegraph, Mitchell said: "I'll cherish that for the rest of my life. I've got a pic with my family that we'll frame.
"My place in the dressing room was just under the honours board with some of the greats of the game. I don't think I deserve to be there with them. But it's something I'll savour forever."
