Like many other Millennial women, I have been completely captivated by Love Story. The new Ryan Murphy series recounts the romance of John F. Kennedy Jr and Carolyn Bessette, tracing everything from their meet-cute at Calvin Klein to their Central Park blow-up, their low-key wedding to their tragic plane crash death.
There are nods to their mythology — CBK reportedly changing her mind on her nail colour causing them to leave late on the day of their death, for example — but by and large, this is an imagining of what their lives together were like behind closed doors. As the disclaimer reads before every episode: “This story is inspired by actual events. Certain depictions of people and events have been dramatised or fictionalised for storytelling purposes.”
