Darwin Nunez told to snub Arsenal for Man United transfer after Jurgen Klopp prediction

Darwin Nunez has been told to snub Arsenal in favour of joining Manchester United this summer after a tremendous season for Benfica. Only Robert Lewandowski has scored more goals in Europe this season than Nunez, who led Benfica to the Champions League quarter-final.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is among those to have sung Nunez's praises when he was asked about the forward ahead of that quarter-final second leg against Liverpool. The German head coach believes the Uruguay international has a "big career" ahead of him as he continues to be touted for a move away from Portugal this summer.

Arsenal and United are among the clubs linked with Nunez this season. The Gunners will be in the market for a number of strikers this summer after Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang left for Barcelona in January, whilst Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are both set to become free agents on July 1.

But former United forward and Uruguay legend Diego Forlan has urged Nunez to sign for his former club, insisting he would be a good fit at Old Trafford.

Forlan told Breaking the Lines : "I think that he is a very good player, a good kid who is doing really well at Benfica and is enjoying a strong season. It is not just the Portuguese league where he is doing well but in the Champions League too, where he scored six goals this season and helped take Benfica to the quarter finals.

“He is a player who has a lot of potential and he could fit in at Manchester United. But obviously, everyone needs to have patience, although he is getting better with more and more experience.

“He would not be a bad signing for Manchester United and it would be nice to see him there. It is a club that gives you time, that makes you feel comfortable and as if you are in a familiar place, very cosy and nice. It would be spectacular having him playing for Manchester United.”
