Darwin Nunez's transfer to Liverpool FC is on the verge of being completed.
The 22-year-old looks set to become Jurgen Klopp's latest signing after Benfica confirmed an agreement worth up to £85m has been reached. It is understood Nunez will sign a six-year contract with the Reds, who will pay the Portuguese giants a set fee of £64.1m (€75m), with a possible £12.8m (€15m) in appearance-related add-ons and £8.5m (€10m) depending on team success.
Although the initial fee is short of the club record £75m spent to take Virgil van Dijk from Southampton in January 2018, the overall package for Nunez will almost certainly make him the Reds' most expensive signing. Nunez hails from humble beginnings and grew up in Artigas in Uruguay.
