Darwin Nunez and Thiago Alcantara sidelined as Liverpool make five changes to starting line-up

Darwin Nunez and Thiago Alcantara are both absent for Liverpool as they travel to Nottingham Forest.

Nunez was removed in the second half of Wednesday's 1-0 win over West Ham as a precaution while Thiago was also substituted in the victory over David Moyes's men.

Thiago, it is understood, is suffering with an ear infection while Nunez has been held back after undergoing an assessment on Friday following initial checks after the Hammers game.

Both miss out for the first Premier League visit to the City Ground since 1999 as Harvey Elliott and Curtis Jones return to the lineup. It's Jones's first start of the season after his recovery from a calf injury initially picked up in late July.

Elsewhere, Andy Robertson returns to the side after Kostas Tsimikas filled in for the Scotland captain on Wednesday while James Milner returns at right-back in place of Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Liverpool : Alisson; Milner, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Elliott, Fabinho, Jones, Carvalho; Salah, Firmino
