Michael Kennedy is relishing a crucial week in Darvel’s season.
It’s the story of three cup competitions after they battled through against Dalbeattie Star in the senior Scottish Cup on Saturday; they face East Kilbride Thistle in the South Challenge Cup tonight and head to Auchinleck Talbot in the Junior Cup this weekend.
But ‘Vale are full of confidence so Kennedy fancies his chances against anyone.
He said: “We are flying to be fair, we’ve only dropped five points and we were down to 10 men in both games.
“We are in a good place, we now have two big games this week.”
On the Talbot game he said: “As always our eyes are on getting through in the cup. To be fair our record there is good, I’ve managed two and we’ve won two.
“I have got so much respect for that club, it’ll be a difficult task trying to get through and beating them in the Junior Cup – it’s basically their cup isn’t it.
“I am sure they’ll be doing anything in their power to progress as will we do so it should be a cracker.
“I love playing there, it’s a special ground with a great surface and great fans, and I have so much respect for the management team.”
Darvel have been handed a tricky tie away to Montrose in the third round of the Scottish Cup, while Talbot head to Kirkcaldy to take on Championship side Raith Rovers.
On his side’s draw, Kennedy said: “I just wanted a home draw, we don’t seem to get many in any cups!
“I’d have been fine with Montrose at home, but they’ve got a good big Astro park so we will go up and see what lies in front of us.
“They are flying high in League One with a lot of seasoned professionals so it will be a tough
game.
“We will go up there confident and I am sure Montrose won’t take us lightly, they’ll give us plenty of respect.”
