Darvel have applied to re-join the Scottish Junior FA – a move which would allow them to play in the Junior Cup.
The East Ayrshire side are gearing up for a new season in the West of Scotland Premiership, and they feel extra games and another trophy to compete for would do them the world of good.
A club statement read: "Darvel FC have applied for SJFA membership and entry into the Scottish Junior Cup. This decision comes on assessment of a reduced fixture list for the campaign.
"The club believe that the Junior Cup will provide fans with even more occasions to look forward to in 2022/23."
• Meanwhile, Darvel have been making moves ahead of the new season in the WoSL Premiership.
‘Vale will be aiming to retain their crown and they’ve added Forfar captain Ross Meechan to the squad.
The former Partick Thistle and Stenhousemuir right back links up with Michael Kennedy’s side as they aim to win promotion to the Lowland League.
Also joining ‘Vale is Craig Truesdale, formerly of Airdrie, Stirling Albion and Kirkintilloch Rob Roy.
Darvel have also been working on deals within the club as a number of players have signed new contracts.
Captain Daryll Meggatt, Ross Caldwell and fan-favourite Darren Miller have penned new deals at Recreation Park for next season, as have Allan Mackenzie and Creag Little.
