Darts star almost hit by opponent's arrow in frightening incident during match

A darts star was almost hit by his opponent's throw as he retrieved his arrows during a frightening incident.

Franz Roetzch was collecting his arrows from the board during his Modus Super Series match with opponent Gavin Carlin, when the latter took aim with his first dart.

Roetzch however struggled to retrieve his arrows from the board and the first throw came perilously close to hitting him on the head.

Fortunately, the German came away unscathed and aimed a stare at Carlin, who raised his hand in apology.

Roetzch shared a clip of the frightening incident on his social media account, alongside a message from a supporter.

"We have to practice pulling out the darts again that was pretty close," the message read, which Roetzch posted on his Instagram story.

Fellow darts player Matthew Edgar, also wrote: "Ooooffftttt Gavin Carlin nearly pins Franz Roetzsch to the dart board".

Roetzch and Carlin faced off in the Modus Super Series Group A match, finishing third and fourth respectively. The winner of the group, Lukas Wenig has qualified for Finals Night after winning the group.

Carlin and Roetzsch were both in Group A at the Super Series and finished third and fourth respectively, with Lukas Wenig qualifying for Finals Night after winning the group.
