Darren Till returns to Thailand to train ahead of UFC return

Darren Till has returned to Thailand as he steps up his return to action following a break from training after his recent loss to Dricus Du Plessis.

Til posted an image of himself following a training session with UFC flyweight Mohammed Mokaev and some other big names in MMA. 22-year-old Mokaev is currently 8-0, typically fighting out of Manchester, and is the youngest ranked fighter in the organisation.

Following his previous bout with Du Plessis, Till had said on social media that he intended to spend Christmas with his family after being away from them for so long, although insisted he intended to return “soon”. Now back in Thailand, the ‘Gorilla’s’ next fight might be sooner than later.

Till, 30, completed his previous camp in Thailand and has likely returned in preparation for his next fight which remains unannounced. The Liverpudlian has spent much time away from his hometown in the past year, also training in Sweden at times with Khamzat Chimaev who is also in the photograph that was originally posted by Mokaev and later reposted by Till. The image also includes Manchester-born fighter and PFL grand prize winner Brendan Loughnane.

Mokaev also has ties to Liverpool in his head coach Dean Garnett, of Aspire Combat Academy on Queens Drive. The young fighter will be a part of UFC 286 in London in March when he faces Jafel Filho.

As for Till, it is unknown when he will officially return, however, it will be his most important fight to date as he sits on the biggest losing streak of his professional career.

Whether he maintains his 185lbs build for his next fight or makes the move back to 170lbs, where he shot to stardom, the Scouser will need to win to maintain his dreams of becoming the best.
