Darren Till endures third straight defeat after UFC 282 submission

Darren Till lost his third successive bout after being submitted by Dricus du Plessis at UFC 282 in Las Vegas.

The former welterweight title challenger was taken down in the third round, eventually tapping after Du Plessis secured a rear-naked choke.

Till was often second best throughout the three rounds and, speaking with Bruce Buffer as he left the octagon, claimed he had torn his ACL. The 29-year-old from Liverpool has now lost three straight fights.

Du Plessis dominated much of the opening round with a clear tactic to try and take Till down early. The South African, who was ranked four places below the Liverpudlian on the night, threw an incredible 60 strikes without reply during the first five minutes.

Till came back into it during the second round, landing clean blows, but was taken down halfway through the third round and submitted.

Till has a history of injury problems and those seemed to rear their heads once again. With reports he had injured his Achilles tendon during the fight, as well as his claim of a torn ACL while leaving.

Till has now suffered five defeats in his last six fights but said afterwards on social media: "I'll be back at some point love yas."

There was some consolation for Till when his bout with Du Plessis was named 'Fight of the Night', with both fighters said to receive $50,000 apiece for their efforts.
