MUMBAI: Sixth seed Darja Semenistaja advanced to the semifinals of the WTA125K Series L&T Mumbai Open at the Cricket Club of India, after a fairly straightforward 6-4, 6-3 win over Russian Polina Kudermetova on Friday.
Kudermetova had staged a remarkable fightback from 2-5 down in the third set to overcome India’s Sahaja Yamalapalli the day earlier, but the 20-year-old failed to repeat those heroics against Semenistaja who never had to do anything fancy to come through.
