A group of brave men are set to take a 'Dip in the Nip' at Brittas Bay in Wicklow to help raise funds for a local hospice.
The annual men-only Dip in the Nip for Our Lady's Hospice in Wicklow will take place on April 3 at the North Beach at Brittas Bay, starting at 10am.
The Dip in the Nip was set up in 2019 and 48 men took part, while last year over €26,000 was raised.

Joining the brave men on the day will be Wicklow Hospice ambassador and former Irish rugby player Shane Byrne.
He said: "We’re asking those taking part to raise €100 for Wicklow Hospice through sponsorship from friends, family, clubs, workplaces or online.
"And we’re asking women to show their support by sponsoring their friends and family and encouraging the men in their lives to sign up.”
Hospice Director of Fundraising Eleanor Flew said: “The pandemic hit fundraising efforts badly, with many events cancelled, so I am appealing to men to get behind the Dip in the Nip and line out with Shane Byrne and the other brave men on Brittas Bay on 3 April.
"There will be music and refreshments to keep the spirits high though the temperature may be low!"
"Your sponsorship will support essential services, provide specialised medical equipment and improve facilities for patients and their families.”
During 2021, Our Lady’s Hospice & Care Services cared for 4,629 patients; made 10,226 specialist palliative care visits to patients’ homes and there were 6,731 clinical interventions delivered by phone and video.
There were 127 inpatients in Wicklow Hospice in 2021 and the team made 1,622 specialist palliative home care visits and did 1,776 virtual reviews (phone or video).
There will also be refreshments and live music on the day after the dip.
