A woman has been arrested on suspicion of abducting a girl from outside her school in Blackpool.
Darcy Shea, 9, has been found “safe and well” by officers after they put out a desperate appeal for her whereabouts after she was allegedly picked up outside St Cuthbert’s Primary School shortly before 9am on Friday.
A Lancashire Police spokesperson said: “Further to our earlier appeals, Darcy, missing from Blackpool, has been found safe and well in the resort this afternoon (Friday, May 27).
“A 60-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of child abduction and is in custody.”
In their appeal police said that Darcy wasn’t in danger but the female driver in her 60s did not have permission to pick her up.
Police urged the public to keep an eye out for Darcy with an older woman at any parks, open space or amusement parks.
By 3.30pm the police said they had found the schoolgirl in a resort and thanked the public for sharing the appeal.
