Former Leicester defender Danny Simpson has revealed he fell out with his agent over a failed proposed Celtic switch.
The Premier League winner, now 36, was heavily linked with a move to Parkhead in 2019 after being released by Leicester.
The former Manchester United defender had offers on the table to remain in the Premier League but claims he knocked back a three-year deal in the hope of a move to Glasgow.
Simpson told the Filthy Fellas podcast that he even held discussions with Neil Lennon over the move as well as Leicester coaching staff members including Brendan Rodgers and Kolo Toure.
The defender - who recently played for a Manchester United legends side against Hibs for David Gray's testimonial - bemoaned a series of "bad decisions" before signing for Huddersfield.
Simpson most recently played for Bristol City but has been without a club since leaving in 2022. And the defender is still haunted by his failed Celtic switch as he revealed clashing with his representatives over the matter.
Simpson explained: "I made some bad decisions, I could have stayed in the Prem.
"I got another offer, a three-year deal at another club, turned that down. Bad decision after bad decision.
"But I fell out with my agent because something happened with Celtic.
"That was the one, that was why I turned the other one down. Celtic was on the cards, it was on the table.
“I spoke to Neil Lennon and everything, it was European football, winning more trophies, it was perfect way to end.
"I spoke to Kolo Toure and Brendan [Rodgers] about it. That fell through at the end when it was all done, that fell through.
"The other one that I turned down, it was too late then, they signed someone else and I couldn't go back to them.”
