Danny Mills has picked ten players from Manchester City and Liverpool in his Premier League Team of the Season.
Heung-min Son was the only player outside the top two to make the cut having scored regularly for Tottenham as they push for a top four spot. Once again, though, the season has been dominated by City and Liverpool, who continue to set the benchmark in the top flight.
Only a point separates the two teams which underlines their consistency. City have edged the selections with six of their players picked by Mills. Ederson, Ruben Dias and Kyle Walker form three of the backline. Kevin De Bruyne, Rodri and Phil Foden also pack the midfield.
Virgil van Dijk, who was absent for much of last season, is picked alongside Andy Robertson, who gets the nod ahead of Joao Cancelo. Thiago makes up the midfield with Mo Salah, the Premier League's top scorer, in attack. The Egyptian, particularly in the first-half of the season has been sensational for the Reds.
Son partners him in attack having outscored teammate Harry Kane - scoring 19 times to the Englishman's 13. Mills told Sky Sports on his selection: "Maybe slightly controversial. Amount of goals he's scored in a team that has struggled, he never has a bad game. High level of assists and offers such great consistency."
Brad Friedel agreed with seven of Mills' picks. Walker was hailed as the best right-back in the world by the former Tottenham and Aston Villa shotstopper. Van Dijk and Robertson make the back four with De Bruyne, Foden, Salah, Son and Foden ahead of them. Alisson topped his compatriot Ederson, with their national battle for selection now the source of regular debate in England.

Friedel said on his selection: "You could go with Alisson or Ederson. They're the two best in the Premier League, but going for four trophies I put Alisson in there." The American went for Antonio Rudiger alongside Liverpool's Dutch defender.
The Chelsea man will leave the Blues this summer, but Friedel admitted omitting Dias was a controversial call. Fabinho was selected ahead of Rodri whilst Bernardo Silva got the nod ahead of Thiago. Friedel also saved praised for Son, stating: "If you look at Tottenham and Son's season I think he deserves to be in there".
