Actor Danny Miller ’s wedding almost descended into chaos after childhood sweetheart Steph Jones ’ stunning white gown failed to arrive on time.
The ex- Emmerdale star tied the knot with Steph in an extravagant countryside ceremony in Cheshire in front of 140 of their friends and family, including their adorable nine-month-old son Albert.
Despite the stunning backdrop, I’m A Celebrity winner Danny was forced to send someone to the airport just days before the wedding after disaster struck.
Steph’s stunning dress, which featured a mesh corset-style bodice and skirt with intricate detailing, failed to turn up from Ukraine.
Her veil also failed to show up entirely.
“The dress I wore ended up being one my mum had picked,” explains Steph, whose dress was from Florianni Bridal Boutique and designed by Wona Concept.
She described the stressful moments leading up to her big day in an exclusive chat with OK!.
“I loved it all apart the sleeves so I had them taken off and little straps added instead,” she told the magazine.
“It was a bit of a stress because it was being made in Ukraine, but because of all the terrible things going on it took ages to come.
"In the end someone from the shop had to fly over to get it from customs.
“I only got it a week before the wedding! My veil never arrived so I had to choose one from the shop at the last-minute.”
Despite the chaos, everything seemingly came together just in time as the loved-up pair tied the knot at the Nunsmere Hall Hotel.
The heavens may have decided to open after a blistering heatwave, but spectacular fireworks, a first dance with a twist and the bride doing the worm, failed to dampen the mood.
Danny and friends Marcelle and Chris Proctor pulled out all the stops at the last minute to have a stretch tent erected to keep everyone dry in the outdoor wedding.
“I wouldn’t have changed a thing, even the weather,” says Danny, 31, who played Aaron Dingle in Emmerdale. “What I thought was going to ruin the ceremony was a blessing in disguise because it ended up looking so intimate.”
Midwife Steph adds of the day, which was coordinated by wedding planner Samantha Bradbury from Moor Connections, “It was perfect. Apart from having Albert it was the best day of our lives."
Many of the guest seats were filled by Danny’s former Emmerdale co-stars - including Lucy Pargeter, Charley Webb, Jeff Hordley, Zoë Henry, Emma Atkins, Isobel Steele, Isabel Hodgins, Eden Taylor-Draper and Bradley Johnson, as well as Adam’s wife Caroline, his twin brother, former Love Island star Scott Thomas and Ryan’s daughter Scarlett Thomas.
Steph walked down the aisle to the sounds of The Voice 2018 singer Holly Ellison who began singing You Are My Sunshine as the rain ceased.
In his speech, Danny recalled how he had a crush on Steph from the moment they met in primary school.
The childhood sweethearts romance continued on and off throughout primary school and their teenage years, but after leaving high school the pair went their separate ways and they thought that was it.
But three and a half years ago they were back in touch again after Danny slid into Steph’s DMs.
“One early morning I slid all the way into those Instagram DMs with the very romantic message of, ‘You up?’” Danny joked.
Danny and Steph surprised their guests by fooling them into thinking they were performing a slow dance to the film’s From Now On.
But they soon disappeared behind a red curtain – Steph first followed by a confused looking Danny – before it dropped and they began a dance routine and Steph even whipped out the worm!
After changing back into his suit and Steph slipping into her second dress, the pair cut their three-tier cake, which had been made by Danny’s mum Andrea.
According to OK!, the couple’s celebrations, which saw them hire out Nunsmere Hall for four days, could have easily been mistaken for a music festival as an Abba tribute band took to the stage to round off their wedding day entertainment.
