Danny Dyer says his EastEnders leaving story is 'epic' and plugs travel show with Dani

Danny Dyer has teased that his exit from Albert Square will be ‘explosive’ as he bows out EastEnders after a decade of service on the BBC soap.

The 44-year-old star has played pub landlord Mick Carter since 2013 and shocked fans when he announced earlier this year that he had opted not to renew his contract to star on the show.

This means that he will exit the long-running soap in the coming weeks – but the star himself has promised fans that his character will be going out in spectacular style.

Danny was a guest on Zoe Ball's Radio 2 Breakfast show on Wednesday morning when he assured listeners that they will be blown away by his character’s final storyline.

He teased: "We've just been pitched my leaving storyline. It's going to be epic. It's huge."

His on-screen wife, Kellie Bright, who has played Linda Carter since 2013, echoed Danny’s claims and also assured fans that his character exit will be astonishing.

She said: “It is going to be epic. I don't know how I'm going to get through, because I'm very sad that Danny is going. But it's going to be very exciting."

While rumours have swirled that Danny has landed a £1 million deal with Channel 4 to create a Keeping Up With The Kardashians-style reality show about his family, the star only confirmed that he has a travel show planned.

News broke on Sunday that Danny and his 25-year-old Love Island star daughter, Dani Dyer, will be co-hosting a new series that will broadcast on E4.

He told Zoe: “Yes, we are [doing a travel show]. We're doing that soon.

“I want to work with my Dani a lot more. One of the reasons I've decided to leave the show is because I want to explore more work with my little Dan. I love her so much.

"I just think we've got such a natural chemistry and an interesting relationship, it needs to be explored more. So we're excited about that, actually."

Danny and Dani already co-host a popular podcast called Sorted With The Dyers where they discuss a range of topics and also give insight into their personal lives.

In a recent episode of the podcast, Danny gave tips to a listener who had written in for advice on how to make their comedy acting dreams a reality amid fears their West Midlands accent and upbringing would hold them back.

The star said: “This is something I went through. Do not let your class worry you.

“Us working class, peasants, if you want to call us, we got something about us,” Danny quipped.

“We totally understand what life is like. To live on the f**king breadline. And that is where comedy comes from.”

He urged people to “follow their dreams”, and said it was “pointless” just living your life “working for someone to get them rich”.

And he added: “All of us should follow our f**king dreams. As a human being.”
