Danny Dyer is now a gamblers favourite to take part in the upcoming new series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! which is expected to see the show finally return to Australia following two years of filming in Wales.
The 44-year-old TV star has been tipped for months to be a contestant on season 22 of the show which will air towards the end of the year.
And he is likely to be thrown into the jungle alongside Olympic diver Tom Daley and football legend Peter Crouch as ITV are said to be eyeing up huge names as the show prepares to return Down Under for the first time since 2019.
The bookies are backing Danny to be the top billing star of the upcoming season as he will, by then, be completely free of his soap filming obligations having announced at the star of the year that he will depart EastEnders during 2022.
Danny now has odds of 5/1 of starring in the show - with Crouchy given odds of 7/1, and Tom on odds of 10/1 – along with a host of there famous names.
William Hill spokesperson, Tony Kenny, said: “We might still be a fair way off the show beginning, but rumours are already rife on who’ll be putting pen to paper for this year’s return to the Australian jungle for I’m A Celeb.
“We make Danny Dyer the 5/1 favourite to be a contestant, though given the likes of Peter Crouch (7/1), Mike Dean (8/1) and Matt Hancock (16/1) are all quoted, we could be in for one of the best lineups the popular show has ever seen.”
The odds come after months of speculation that Danny will be offered the chance to fly Down Under and compete to be crowned King of the Jungle.
Back in February, The Sun reported Danny was to be offered “big money” to take part in the reality contest, with a source claiming: “Producers think Danny would be great on the series and is their number one target.”
Fans of Danny are eagerly awaiting what he will get up to after sensationally quitting EastEnders at the beginning of the year.
Some fans are hoping rumours of a full scale Kardashians-esque reality show about the actor and his family will turn out to be true.
Reports in January suggested the actor was close to signing a £1 million deal to feature in a reality show about his family life.
A source told The Sun at the time: “Once Danny is a free agent later this year, the sky’s the limit. TV production companies are falling over themselves to film him and his family.
“ Channel 4 made him a lucrative offer that he’s been tempted by and he knows his family would make really lively, fun TV as they’re all so down-to-earth and people at home can relate to them."
While other fans are hoping he could take the torch from Jodie Whittaker to transform into the next Doctor Who when the 39-year-old actress steps down from the role later this year.
For a time earlier this year, Danny was the bookies favourite to take on the iconic role.
Coral’s John Hill said in a statement in January: “Ever since he announced he was leaving Eastenders to pursue ‘other projects’, we have seen strong support for Danny Dyer to be the next Doctor Who.
“It obviously would be a much different role to pulling pints in the Queen Vic, but Dyer has proved himself to be a versatile actor, so it is easy to see why so many are backing him to play the iconic Time Lord role.”
