Danny Dyer secretly clashed with co-star Jessie Wallace during his time on EastEnders.
The actor, 45, who played Queen Vic landlord Mick Carter for eight years, hinted at a feud with some of his former co-stars during The Jonathan Ross Show.
And the Sunday Mirror can reveal that one of the stars he did not see eye to eye with was Jessie, who plays Kat Slater in the BBC soap.
A source revealed: “Danny and Jessie are both very strong personalities and, while they never let it get in the way of their work, they did not get on.
“There was a lot of tension going on behind the scenes.
“Once, Danny even got himself into hot water when he was overheard saying he ‘hated’ her at an event.
“Anyone who worked with them both will be clear he had her in mind when he made his recent remarks.”
During the chat show recording, host Jonathan asked Danny: “Who will you miss the least?”
The dad of three replied: “There’s a few of them actually, I ain’t going to lie. I won’t say [who] you know. Most of them I love dearly. Not all.”
Jonathan continued: “So they know who they are, though?” And Danny admitted: “I would have thought so.”
Danny’s final scenes as soap favourite Mick aired at Christmas.
Millions of soap fans tuned in to watch his character plunge into the sea, but his fate has not been confirmed – and the actor admitted on that he wouldn’t rule out returning to Walford.
Speaking about his exit, he said: “It’s a very emotional thing, it’s such a big part of me.
“I tell you what it is, I’m lazy… It’s f***ing hard. Thirty pages you’ve got to learn a day. It’s like a film a week.
“[But] if it goes t**s up, I can go back. I can turn up in three years’ time and walk in the Queen Vic smothered in seaweed… they [the bosses] wanted to keep it open.
“I’m very privileged and grateful for that job. It really did change my career and my life.”
Jessie, 51, has played leopard print-loving Kat in EastEnders since 2000. She recently got engaged to her boyfriend, Justin Gallwey.
