Danilo to Nottingham Forest transfer: €20m fee 'agreed', medical set, parting message

Nottingham Forest are expected to be busy in the transfer market once again during the January window.

Forest made a raft of signings in the summer following their promotion to the Premier League. And they started the new year by completing the signing of Gustavo Scarpa from Brazilian club Palmeiras.

Now the Reds are on the verge of making another Palmeiras player their next recuit - in the form of midfielder Danilo. The 21-year-old made 53 appearances in all competitions during the latest season in Brazil, which ended in December.

There has been plenty of talk about the player's future in recent days. Here is a round-up of all the latest news surrounding Danilo and Forest...

Parting message

The incoming Nottingham Forest midfielder Danilo has bid an emotional farewell to current club Palmeiras on Instagram. He says he is leaving to 'make another dream come true'.

Fee 'agreed'

It has been reported by The Athletic that Forest have agreed a fee of €20million (£17.8m) with Palmeiras for Danilo.

Medical set

It is understood that the player will arrive in England over the weekend (January 14-15) to complete his medical ahead of the move to Forest.

Competition

Premier League rivals Arsenal and Chelsea have also been credited with an interest in Danilo, along with French club Monaco.

What Cooper has said

Speaking after the Carabao Cup quarter-final win over Wolves, Forest head coach Steve Cooper was asked about the chances of more signings ahead of the Premier League match with Leicester City.

“I don’t know if confident is the right word, but hopeful,” Cooper said. “It’s clear that we want and need to add players.

“That thing is going off in the back of my head again about, ‘here Nottingham Forest go again, signing loads of players’. But that’s where we are at, in this current situation.

“It’s an easy thing for anybody to say now, about how many players we signed in the summer and signing some again. But they are two different times and they shouldn’t really be compared.

“We’ve got an injury list. We’ve had time to get a little bit used to Premier League football. And you have to treat the transfer window for what it is - an opportunity to strengthen and improve your squad. We’ll be no different to anyone else."
