Rangers target Danilo has told Feyenoord that he wants to move to Ibrox as the Brazilian looks to seal a switch to Glasgow.
The Light Blues had an opening bid of around £3.5 million for the Brazilian strike star booted out as the Eredivisie champions value the 24-year-old in the region of £5m. But in a twist in Rangers’ pursuit of the former Ajax player, sources in Holland have told Record Sport that Danilo has now informed the Rotterdam club that he wants to join Michael Beale’s side.
Danilo netted 12 times in 44 appearances for Feyenoord and was second top scorer in the league for the champions. However, he was named in the starting eleven just 14 times and it’s understood he is likely to be third choice for Arne Slot who has Mexico international Santiago Gimenez as his main frontman after a sizzling debut campaign in Europe following his arrival from Cruz Azul. Iran international and former Brighton man Alireza Jahanbakhsh, Danilo’s fellow Brazilian Igor Paixao and Javairo Dilrosun are other attacking options for Feyenoord. And Danilo has now decided that Rangers is the place for him and informed the Dutch side of that over the weekend but the clubs will still have to agree on a fee to make that a reality.
Despite Danilo dropping down the pecking order, Feyenoord director of football Dennis te Kloese is determined to get top dollar for the player as they look to raise funds to add to their own squad for Champions League tilt.
