Danilo, Boly, Scarpa - Nottingham Forest best XI when Steve Cooper's injury nightmare ends

Nottingham Forest fans have been debating Steve Cooper’s strongest possible line-up ahead of this weekend’s clash with Manchester City.

The Reds’ formidable City Ground record will be tested by the champions, who are looking to keep up the pressure on long-time Premier League leaders Arsenal. Following another busy transfer window for Forest, head coach Steve Cooper has plenty of options at his disposal, even there are few injury issues in the squad.

NottinghamshireLive has come up with what is potentially the best Reds line-up with everyone fit – and it’s fair to say it has triggered some healthy debate among supporters.

Our best Forest XI is as follows (4-3-3): Navas; Aurier, Felipe, Niakhate, Lodi; Yates, Shelvey, Freuler; Johnson, Gibbs-White, Awoniyi.

Here’s a taste of what Forest have been saying…

Lee Scaysbrook: Could we go back to 3 CBs at the back?

Jon Peach: No Danilo or Scarpa… interesting.

Adam Fox: That looks good to me. Surridge needs to get a good run out too.

Ben Wilkes: Danilo for Freuler and I agree.

Nick C L Ching: Boly should be in, Niakhate out.

Richard Leonard: Danilo for Yates. Scarpa for Freuler. Boly has been great so he has to fit in.

Lee Tilston: Very strong team.

Jon Bridge: You think wrong. Boly is our best centre back. You’ve only seen 170 minutes of Niakhaté. Kouyate also superior to Yates.

Tani Zack: Danilo for Yates, Scarpa for Freuler, Lingard for Awoniyi.

Martin Norton: I would find room for Scarpa once he’s adapted but I wouldn’t argue with this starting 11.

Kayleigh Spencer: Still don’t see how give it away Freuler gets in Just saying.
