Daniel O'Donnell 'in trouble' with wife Majella after showing her in hotel bed on live TV

Daniel O'Donnell left viewers in stitches after showing his wife Majella in bed on live TV.

The hilarious incident happened as the 60-year-old struggled to set up his camera for a remote interview on Ireland AM on Monday.

Presenters Muireann O’Connell and Tommy Bowe explained that before they returned from the ad break, the country music legend was trying to set up the camera for the interview and had managed to get his wife in the frame as she was sleeping in their hotel bed.

Muireann said they were wondering where he was and thought: “Oh that’s the bed, it’s not made. The next thing Majella just popped up."

She then joked: “Daniel, we just want to apologise for making Majella move to the other side of the bed. We know she was a bit annoyed with us.”

The Donegal native responded saying: “Ah, she wasn’t annoyed at all.”

The Virgin Media presenters went on to ask if they were forgiven for interrupting her peaceful sleep, to which Majella called out from the background, “Yes”.

Cheeky Daniel then gave viewers a spin around his room as he turned the camera towards his wife who was comfortably lying down in bed.

Muireann and Tommy were in hysterics at the scene as Daniel added: “Oh god, it’s a sight”.

The former rugby star, Tommy noted: “You’re going to be in some trouble.”

When he’s not causing mayhem during interviews, Daniel shared that he will have a more relaxed summer as he heads on a special holiday with his family.

“It’s everything really and we do get a lot of time with them. In July, I’m taking off to Tenerife for two weeks with them and this is their first time.

“Olivia was there when she was small but it’s the first time they’re going to be there. I’m looking forward to the beach and all that kind of thing. It’s going to be great," he told RSVP.

Daniel shared that he was surprised to hear the unique name his first grandchild called him.

“Olivia called me Gaga from the very beginning and nobody told her to do that because it’s not a very common grandparent name.

“The strangest thing of all is that my father’s mother, all of the grandchildren called her Gaga.”

He explained that he loves that he is called the same name, saying: “It’s kind of affectionate too and of course now Archie does now too.”

Daniel says while his grandchildren have a knack for performing, he doesn’t think they’re destined to follow in his footsteps.

“There’s a fair performance but I don’t know if they’ll channel it onto the stage.”
