Daniel Levy talks revealed as Tottenham consider huge transfer strategy change

Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy has held talks with betting experts as he considered huge changes to the club's recruitment strategy.

That is according to the Telegraph, who claim that Spurs are keen to implement a data-driven system similar to that of Brentford and Brighton. The Lillywhites have struggled in the transfer market in recent years, spending big sums on the likes of Tanguy Ndombele, Giovani Lo Celso and Bryan Gil - who all spent the 2022/23 campaign out on loan after struggling to make a meaningful impact in N17.

Levy has publicly admitted that the north Londoners need to improve in this department and he is said to have been in dialogue with betting experts regarding the possibility of utilising a model to analyse and assess players performing to high levels in so-called smaller leagues. This isn't the only potential change expected at the club this summer, with Spurs still in need of a new manager.

Feyenoord boss Arne Slot continues to be linked with the vacancy and Dutch outlet De Telegraaf has claimed that his agent Rafaela Pimenta has been in talks with Tottenham, and has indicated that her client would like to move to north London this summer. Slot is likely to cost around £6million to prise away from the Eredivisie club.

football.london also reported last week that Tottenham had narrowed down the field when it comes to the hunt for their new director of football with Roma's Tiago Pinto and former Bayer Leverkusen sporting director Tim Steidten among the candidates at this stage. football.london understands there is also another unnamed leading candidate for the position, but despite reports Brentford technical director Lee Dykes is not currently in consideration for the role and neither is Johannes Spors.

Whoever is appointed will work under new chief football officer Scott Munn, who will officially begin work as Levy's No.2 at the beginning of July.
