Daniel Jeremiah knows the NFL draft better than anyone. The former college quarterback worked as a scout with three different NFL teams before moving over to the media side in 2012.
Now the top draft analyst for the NFL Network, Jeremiah co-hosts one of the NFL’s more popular podcasts along with Bucky Brooks called “Move the Sticks.”
Fans enjoy Jeremiah because he gives fans insights into what NFL teams think as a former scout. Therefore, he is a popular man around this time every year.
On Monday, Jeremiah was a guest on “BMitch and Finlay” of 106.7 The Fan in Washington, D.C., and talked about the 2022 NFL draft.
Who are the players Jeremiah is hearing linked the most consistently to the Washington Commanders? Notre Dame safety Kyle Hamilton and USC wide receiver Drake London.
Jeremiah explained London would be a good fit for the Commanders as he brings a different element to Washington (size) to complement star wideout Terry McLaurin.
However, when the talk turned to Hamilton, you could hear the excitement in Jeremiah’s voice.
“For me, there is not,” when asked if there were any concerns with Hamilton. “I think he can play in the post. He’s a big, rangy safety, and people kind of look at the 40 time and get carried away. Ok, the knock on him is he’s not an explosive starter. Your eyes make up for that. He’s already taken two steps before other safeties have moved because he knows where it’s going because he can see it.”
Jeremiah brought up Ed Reed as a player who ran a similar 40 time to Hamilton when he came out of Miami back in 2002. Jeremiah was quick to point out he’s not comparing the two players as they are different types of safeties, but people should not be obsessed with 40 times because they do not consider a player’s instincts. Hamilton, like Reed, possesses elite instincts.
And Jeremiah pointed out how intelligent Hamilton was by citing his ACT scores.
As for the wide receivers, Jeremiah has Ohio State wide receiver, Garrett Wilson as his top receiver. London is No. 2, and Chris Olave is No. 3. Jeremiah said he wouldn’t be surprised if Alabama’s Jameson Williams were the top wide receiver chosen in the top 10.
It would be an upset if Washington picked anyone other than Hamilton or a wide receiver at this point.
