Daniel Dubois retained his WBA regular heavyweight championship with a knockout victory over Kevin Lerena - but not without a huge scare in the first round.
Dubois took a heavy shot to the top of his head and hit the canvas. He then dropped to his knees a further twice in the opening stanza and looked to be heading towards a disastrous defeat.
He was undoubtedly saved by the bell, and recovered over the course of the next two rounds before emphatically finishing the fight in the third session with a highlight-reel stoppage.
But the bell seemed to sound early in the opening round, and fans were quick to pick up on the anomaly on Twitter.
One fan wrote: "First round Dubois saved by a bell 8 seconds early when he’s all over the place. Then lands 3/4 shots after the bell in the round he knocks him out, he knows that bell goes and sees an opportunity to stop him. Awful all round."
Another added: "Dubois was just a 9 second early bell in the first to be saved at count 8ish then won on a knockout two rounds later. Whoever controlled that bell saved ol’buddy."
A third said: "Absolutely criminal that mind, Dubois saved by bell (rang 10 seconds early) then wins when the last strike is on/after the bell other lad not allowed to continue."
After the fight, Dubois' trainer Shane McGuigan suggested his fighter may have suffered knee ligament damage, and the 25-year-old acknowledged he felt a problem after receiving the punch to the top of his head.
"It was amazing," he told BT Sport. "He caught me and I felt like my knee went. I have the heart of a warrior and listened to my team. I didn't feel it the shot must of hit me, s*** happens.
"I was just saying get back to your boxing and calm it down. I listened to Shane and I had to recover and I came back out stronger.
"I felt a bit rusty and I felt like I wasn't even there at points."
