Dani Dyer was in 'a bad place' when ex was jailed and 'distraught' at being a single mum

Dani Dyer has spoken for the first time about how "distraught" she was when she became a single mother after her ex Sammy Kimmence was sent to jail.

The former Love Island star, 25, admits she was in "a bad place" when she was left alone to look after her son Santiago, 12 months, and feared she wouldn't be able to cope.

Sammy was jailed for three-and-a-half years in July for scamming two pensioners out of almost £34,000.

Speaking to her EastEnders actor dad Danny Dyer on their podcast Sorted with the Dyers, she said: "There was a moment where I thought: 'Oh my God, I'm on my own with a baby, how am I going to survive? How am I going to cope?'

"You know how distraught I was. I was so emotional. I've never really spoken about it, but I was in a bad place.

"So for me now to enjoy my own company and watch that bit of telly and not think someone is going to come in and murder me ..."

Danny joked: "Yeah, well, that's the stuff you're watching on Netflix."

But Dani - who is dating West Ham United player Jarrod Bowen - now admits she loves her own space.

She said: "I never thought I'd say that but I love my own company. I love having my shower, getting in bed early, watching my telly. Just chilling out.

"When Santi is in bed that is my time to just my own things and chill out. It doesn't mean you don't want to spend time with someone, it just means you enjoy spending time with yourself."

Danny added: "You've had to, really. You were put in a predicament, it wasn't the plan for you. You're a single parent."
